Location. The Byzantine style Hotel ai Mori d'Oriente in Venice, Italy, is in Venice's uncrowded Canareggio district. The hotel is 500 metres from the historic Jewish Ghetto and the Grand Canal. Rialto Bridge is 20 minutes away by water bus, and St Mark's Square is 30 minutes. Hotel Features. The Hotel ai Mori d'Oriente is decorated with Byzantine and Venetian inspired furnishings. The 15th century palazzo was once home to Turkish traders (mori), who brought goods from the Orient to Venice. The hotel has wrought iron balconies with flower boxes, and traditional shuttered windows. Concierge staff can provide information on local attractions and exchange currencies.
The walnut panelled hotel bar has scarlet fabric seats, mirrored walls, fresh flowers and brass lighting. It features a Turkish water pipe, plasma screen television and tabletop games. From Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE): Distance to Hotel ai Mori d'Oriente is 13 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.
Getting there. ATVO buses run every 30 minutes to Piazzale Roma in the city centre. The journey time is 20 minutes and single tickets cost 3 EUR. The ACTV number 5 bus also goes to Piazzale Roma. The number 15 bus runs between the airport and Venice Mestre train station. From Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station, water buses (vaporetto) go to Madonna dell'Orto stop, 250 metres from the hotel. From here, turn right, then left at the first street. Bear left, then bear right until Fondamenta Madonna dell'Orto. Turn right and at the first bridge, cross the canal to Fondamenta della Sensa and turn left. The hotel is on the left. A free bus service links the airport terminal to the airport jetty; from here, regular Alilaguna boats leave for the city. Single tickets cost 10 EUR. Private water taxis are available, but are typically very expensive. Prices are subject to change.
Getting around. The hotel is on Fondamenta della Sensa. Venice is best explored on foot or by public water buses (vaporetto). Three day passes for the public water bus cost 25 EUR and offer unlimited travel. Water taxis and gondolas are also available. Gondola ferries (traghetti) cross the Grand Canal and the fare is 50 cents. Water buses also link the centre to Venice lagoon's main islands of Venice Lido, Murano, Burano, and Torcello. Drivers can leave their cars at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto.
Driving directions.From Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE): Follow signs for Venice city centre until Piazzala Rome or Tronchetto car parks. After parking the car, take the water bus to S. Marcolas or S. Salvise public transport pier.
